Light-Art for KPN Broadcasting Tower
To maintain standards for the broadcasting of radio, television, cell phone and data signals in the wider Amsterdam area, KPN’s broadcasting tower located opposite the RAI in the Vivaldi area of Zuidas is being extended from 106 meters to a new height of 146 meters.
From the four preliminary designs for the KPN broadcasting tower, presented in the fourth issue of the VMZpaper, two plans were chosen for further elaboration. The design by Giny Vos ultimately turned out to be the winner. Vos adds a pattern of LED lights to the platforms on the tower, which will show a varied pattern of starry skies inspired by the universe. The artwork will be constructed next spring.
